JACOB

His original name meaning "supplanter". Jacob was born holding his twin brother Esau's heel, and his name means "he grasps the heel" or "supplanter".

"Afterward his brother came out, with his hand gripping Esau's heel; so he was named Jacob." - Genesis 25:26

ISRAEL

His new name after wrestling with God, meaning "he who wrestles with God". God changed Jacob's name to Israel after he wrestled with an angel.

"And he said, Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel; for you have struggled with God and with men, and have prevailed." - Genesis 32:28

ESAU

Jacob's older twin brother, a skillful hunter who sold his birthright for a bowl of stew. Esau was the firstborn but gave up his inheritance.

"And the boys grew. And Esau was a skillful hunter, a man of the field; but Jacob was a mild man, dwelling in tents." - Genesis 25:27

ISAAC

BLESSING
